Celebrity Wednesday--Lovely Judi Dench

Gray is tricky
Wear it well, and you could be unforgettable. But play it wrong, and you risk looking like a (great-) grandma. Despite the challenges, lots of women do go natural — and love it. Would you consider being one of them? Here's what you need to know to decide.

Well, here’s what happens. The cells that produce pigment slow down and make less melanin, causing your hair to lose its original color. Hence, the variations of gray, silver and white. How fast you go gray is mostly hereditary So. . .to color or not.
According to a New York City Salon quoted in Good Housekeeping, there are some gray nono’s

1.Your skin is yellow- or olive-toned. "Gray is a cool shade, so it doesn't always complement warm skin tones," says Robert Gallagher, owner of the Long Hair Care Group in New York City.
2.Your locks are thinning or superfine. Unless you cut your hair very short, a light color (whether blond or gray) can make it look even sparser than it is.
3.Your hair is very frizzy. Flyaways are more noticeable with gray (or blond) hair. So if you have trouble with frizz control, consider coloring to get a sleeker look.
If you have uneven gray patches, consider adding highlights to blend, turning patches into stylish streaks.

If you have: dyed hair and want to go au natural, try switching to a semipermanent color, and a lighter shade with each touchup. According to GH if you only cover the new growth, the ends will fade eventually to the color you want.

If you are gray already, try a little tlc. Gray hair can be frizzier, more wirey and even yellow. GH writes to condition and use a moisturizing shampoo. Counteract yellowing, if any, with a purple shampoo or conditioner (try L'Oréal Nature's Therapy Color Confidence Blonde Brightening Shampoo) and a monthly rinse with lemon water (the juice of one lemon for every two cups water) to help eliminate smoke- and pollution-induced discoloration.

So Enjoy Your Gray As Judi Dench does--how beautiful!!
