Anti-aging Makeup Tips

From Yahoo News and Rachel Perry Dark lipstick - Deep shades make any surface look smaller, and that includes lips. Opt for a brighter color and/or a hint of gloss--it will make your pucker seem fuller and more youthful. Too-sleek hairstyles - This can make your face look drawn and emphasize every pore, wrinkle, and imperfection. Try a more textured, looser option--a loosely pulled-back 'do takes five years off your face! Also, keep in mind that helmet-headed updos can be disastrously aging. Stay away from too-voluminous bouffants. Over-concealing dark circles - We're all guilty of this one, guys. We want to hide those bags and under eye circles, and sometimes we get carried away. Take it down a notch with a light concealer, applied with a brush only to the dark spots--not the WHOLE under eye. Cakey foundation - Heavy foundation sticks to and emphasizes wrinkles. Who wants that? Choose a tinted moisturizer instead. Once applied, take a damp sponge to noticeably wrinkled areas. It will remove any excess foundation! Lower lash mascara - This packs a double aging whammy by bringing attention to crows feet and making eyes appear smaller and more tired. Instead, curl only your top lashes and apply the blackest mascara you can find--it will bring out the whites of your eyes while making them look bigger. Short necklaces - Chokers are a bad move as they bring attention to your neck--an area that begins to show aging early on. Bring the focus down with a long necklace which will elongate both your neck and your figure for an all-around slimming effect!

Drugstore Beauty Finds under $12

Drugstore Beauty Under $12 from I Heart Daily June 12, 2013 Michiko Boorberg has done makeup for everyone from Yoko Ono to Penn Badgley, and she's worked on runways like Alexander McQueen and Chanel... and I met her recently. So I asked her for her top three beauty buys in the drugstore aisle. Listen up: ♥ CoverGirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm ($7 each). "I like a balm with a little light color, and these are really good for layering -- you can add more if you want a bright look. Plus, the color is very true to what it is on the package so you don’t have to guess." ♥ Almay Eyeliner Crayon Contour ($6). "I love this black liner -- it's thin and really dark, dark black, making it nice for lining the inner rims of eyes for a sexy effect. You don't have to sharpen it, just twist." ♥ Neutrogena Bronzer Blush Duos ($12). "The blush gives you color and then the bronzer softens it for that glowy, dewy look. Take a brush and mix both together to apply on the cheeks -- it's amazing. These are good on EVERYBODY."

Glamour Dark Circle Hints

Did you wake up this morning, look in the mirror and go EEEK, look at those circles. Glamour has some hints you can try. 1) Start eating citrus. In a piece about foods that promote great skin on Self.com, I found this nugget of wisdom for the scourge of undereye bags and dark circles: "Dark under-eye circles can make you look like the Crypt Keeper—not cute. But the vitamin C in oranges banishes bags. It strengthens collagen, the skin's supportive structure, to lift sunken areas that create shadows." Yes! I've been low on citrus lately, so I'm going to boost my intake and see how it helps blast these dark circles (and, um, I'm also going to try to get to bed earlier, too!). 2) Use super-star makeup artist Pat McGrath's one-two punch of a mask and a concealer packed with anti-aging ingredients. You've heard of Pat McGrath, right? Oh, she's only the supermodel of makeup artists who's worked on countless magazine covers and, um, every celebrity ever. Recently, I got to pick her brain a little and find out all her secrets. Aren't I lucky? Well, I'm going to share. Here's what the CoverGirl spokesperson had to say about her tricks to hiding undereye circles: "The trick to preventing dark circles under the eyes is to use a great skincare regimen daily. For a fresh complexion, use SK-II Signs Eye Masks as a mini treatment. They instantly moisturize and liven up the face and the nutrients in the masks refresh skin for a healthier, more hydrated appearance. Then apply a dab of CoverGirl + Olay Concealer Balm under the eyes with your finger—it has anti-aging and skin care benefits, which minimizes dark circles. Lastly, dust a light dose of loose powder as the finishing touch to perfected skin. Remember to moisturize every day and night! Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream is an amazing choice for all skin types." So there you have it: A ton of moisture to plump fine lines and concealer that doubles as treatment. All sounds pretty genius to me. 3) Apply your concealer in this shape for the best results. Hey, it works on makeup artist Trish McEvoy's clients. Makeup artist Trish McEvoy spilled her big secret for hiding dark undereye circles, and I think it's a game-changer. Her tip? "Apply your under-eye brightener in an inverted triangle under the eye—what I call my signature Triangle of Light—to lift and light up your face." A triangle of light! Interesting. Personally, I've always just smeared my brightening concealer (I'm obsessed with this one at moment) around haphazardly until the majority of the darkness disappears—I've never given any thought to the idea that the way I'm putting it on could make a difference. I haven't tried it out yet but I will and hope that it's the answer to all my dark-undereye-circle prayers. Fingers crossed. 4) Get a little help from some shimmer. Sure, you can use concealer to hide the circles around your eyes. But there's also another method you can try. You can use just a bit of shimmer cream--think pearly, not glittery--to catch the light there and brighten things up a bit. You can either wear it alone of over you concealer for a little extra insurance. And then you just do your eye makeup as usual. 5) Look for caffeine to deflate puffiness—it's what makes this product such a reader favorite! Oh, lovely, lovely caffeine, the thing that probably helped you get out of bed this morning. Caffeine is a diuretic, so it's an immediate skin de-puffer that makes the area look firmer and less tired pretty much on contact. Got puffy eyes at this very moment? You can get the effect by hanging out with a couple of cool, moist green tea bags on your eyes or you can always look for an eye cream that's packed with it like 100% Pure's Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream . Which of these five strategies have you tried with success? And what's your dark-circle-erasing secret? Spill your secrets below in the comment section!
