Happy New Year!!

Well New Year's Eve has passed and brought all kinds of New Year resolutions. With the economy still uncertain, we all may have frugality on our mind. Sooooooooo, dig into your closet, pull out some of those basic gems and turn them into some trendy 2012 fashion statements.

I'm sure we all have a pair of leggings hiding deep in our closets. Pull them out and pair them with an oversized shirt, sweater or tunic. They abound on the end of season racks and can still be just as flattering and comfy as they were in the 70's. I vowed I wouldn't succomb to them, because I think they make you lazy because they disguise your bumps and lumps. I've revamped my thoughts and feel if they are not the staple of my wardrobe, they are a treat, not a way of life.

How about that little black dress. It's still as versatile as ever. How about a going retro with a cute blouse under the dress for a jumper effect. Or with the abundance of cardigans available, add a little of your favorite color. Two of the spring favorites are melon or mustard. Zing!!

How many blazers do we all have hiding in our closets. I tend to forget about them but you can revive the look by pairing them with skinny jeans and a cute tshirt or go wild with leather pants.

Ahhhh, yes, the classic white blouse. How many looks can you get from one piece. I bet this piece wins the prize. Pull out your multitude of scarves and coordinate with a skirt or pants. Wear it under blazers, over skinny jeans, as a jacket, the possibilities are limitless.

What better way to stay warm than with tights. Pull them out of the closet and double up if the weather dips below zero. Wear them with skirts, or hide them under pants.

And finally, what about those shoes stuffed in the back corner of your closet--the comfy flats. If you like to go funky, try some wild socks with fun patterns.

Happy New Year Everyone!!
