Fun Friday--English

You think English is easy??? Read to the end ... a new twist

1) The bandage was wound around the wound.

2) The farm was used to produce produce.

3) The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.

4) We must polish the Polish furniture.

5) He could lead if he would get the lead out.

6) The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.

7) Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present

8) A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum.

9) When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes.

10) I did not object to the object.

11) The insurance was invalid for the invalid.

12) There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row ...

13) They were too close to the door to close it.

14) The buck does funny things when the does are present.

15) A seamstress and a sewer fell down into a sewer line.

16) To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow.

17) The wind was too strong to wind the sail.

18) Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear.

19) I had to subject the subject to a series of tests.

20) How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend? (Notice how this word could also be read as in tim ate ?)

Let's face it - English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant, nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England or French fries in France . Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat. We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth, beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So one moose, 2 meese? One index, 2 indices? Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend? If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it?

If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables what does a humanitarian eat? Some tim es I think all the English speakers should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane. In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell?

How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which, an alarm goes off by going on..

English was invented by people not computers and it reflects the creativity of the human race, which, of course, is not a race at all. That is why when the stars are out they are visible but when the lights are out they are invisible.

PS. - Why doesn't 'Buick' rhyme with 'quick' ?

You lovers of the English language might enjoy this .

There is a two-letter word that perhaps has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that is 'UP'

It's easy to understand UP , meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP ? At a meeting, why does a topic come UP ? Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report?

We call UP our friends. And we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver; we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house and some guys fix UP the old car. At other tim es the little word has real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UPexcuses. To be dressed is one thing, but to be dressed UP is special.

And this UP is confusing: A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP . We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.

We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP ! To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP, look the word UP in the dictionary. In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4th of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions. If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your tim e, but if you don't give UP ,you may wind UP with a hundred or more. When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP .. When the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP...

When it rains, it wets the earth and often messes things UP.

When it doesn't rain for awhile, things dry UP .

One could go on and on, but I'll wrap it UP , for now my time is UP , so........it is time to shut UP !

Yonka Vital Defense

What they say

Pollution, cigarette smoke, exposure
to UV rays, climate variation,
and more: your face encounters
harsh environmental factors
every day.
These damaging factors generate
a large quantity of free radicals*,
overwhelming the body's self-defense
system: this is oxidative stress, which
is responsible for premature aging
of the skin and causes a dull, muddy complexion.
Specially designed to fight this stress, Vital Defense Crème helps the skin to remain youthful; the skin is oxygenated, stress-free, glowing.

What I Say

I tried a sample of this cream. Unfortunately the sample is not enough to use on a regular basis to see if it works. When I used this cream, my skin did seem clearer and more vibrant. To me, it wasn't moisturizing, you put it on your skin and it felt like you hadn't added anything. So on top of this, I would use a moisturizer. Positive, it wasn't greasy, only smoothing, It definitely lets your skin breathe. Negative, I felt like I needed more of a base. I didn't use it long enough to find any diminishing wrinkles.

Best Memorial Day Sales

Shop online, stick with clothes, and avoid electronics to save the most this weekend
By KIMBERLY PALMER
Posted: May 27, 2011

Memorial Day might be all about the outdoors, but indoors is where you'll find the best sales. Not only are the biggest discounts on clothing, but shoppers can find the top deals through their Internet connections. In fact, experts say many retailers are offering the deepest cuts to online shoppers this year, largely through "stacking coupons," where shoppers can apply discount codes on top of site-wide sales.

Combine those with the sales already going on, that will end up being the largest discount," says Jeff Contray, managing editor of coupon site dealnews.com. But not all shoppers will be saving this weekend; some items, including sought-after grills and patio furniture, will stay pricey until the end of the season. Here's a round-up of the top deals you'll find throughout the holiday weekend:

Apparel: Historically, Memorial Day is one of the best times of the year to update your wardrobe. That's because retailers know the warm weather inspires shoppers to pick up new shorts and tops, and they mark down their items accordingly, says Contray. Many retailers got a head start on that tradition this year, with Gap Outlet emailing additional discounts to customers that can be used on top of site-wide sales earlier in the week. (Gap.com is also offering an online-only sale through Monday, with some items more than half off.) Sears.com is selling swimsuits, shorts, and summer tops for up to 60 percent off.

Neiman Marcus is offering up to 40 percent off regular prices and American Eagle's website features a 30-percent-off code through Monday. Macys.com features a range of discounts throughout the weekend as well, with extra discounts on swimsuits and beach towels. Kohl's will also take 15 percent off storewide in honor of the holiday. Ann Taylor's "$25 and under event," available both online and in stores, features shoes, tops, and shorts, and some styles are eligible for 50-percent-off discounts.

Tools and appliances: Sears, Home Depot, and Lowe's are all featuring discounts on tool sets, with Home Depot offering one cordless set for just $64, which Contray says is even lower than its Black Friday price. Sears is offering 30 percent off Kenmore appliances, 25 percent off Samsung appliances, and a variety of discounts on other brands with the code "memorialday."

E-readers: Amazon and Barnes & Noble continue to try to undercut each other's e-reader prices, which means consumers can snag better and better deals. Since summer is a big time of year for reading—especially lazy beach novels—Memorial Day is a good time to pick an e-reader, as well as new ebooks. (The lowest-priced Kindle is now $114, while the new Nook, which will be available June 10, is $139.)

Meanwhile, shoppers will benefit by waiting to buy traditional summer items such as grills, patio furniture, and air conditioner units, because prices are higher now than they will be at the end of the season. According to Contray's research, portable air conditioners that sold for $400 at the beginning of last summer dropped to $300 by the end of summer, and he saw the same trend with grills. "If you can wait to update those items you associate with summer until the end of the summer, then it's best to wait," he says. (Home Depot, however, is offering free shipping on grills and patio sets through June 1.)

Something else to skip: electronics. Televisions, computers, and cameras typically fall to their lowest prices around winter holiday sales, such as Black Friday. Early summer is not usually the best time to make those mega-purchases. But Contray adds that a few select retailers, including Newegg and MacMall, will be offering Memorial Day sales. Those desperate for new gadgets can also turn to Pricegrabber.com, which is currently featuring a "Dads and grads" guide that includes deals on smartphones, LED televisions, and audio receivers.Across almost all categories, the best strategy for shopping success this weekend is to shop online, and to search for any last-minute additional discounts before checking out. With many retailers emailing coupon codes to subscribers that can stack on top of the deals available to everyone, the savviest shoppers will apply not one, but two or more discounts to each purchase. Free shipping might also apply with an extra promotional code; check freeshipping.org for available codes.

Don't wait until Monday evening to shop, because many retailers got a head start on the holiday with some of the best deals launching well before the kick-off of the long weekend.

Fun Friday

Need a Crystal? Find out which one.

Crystal healing is an alternative medicine technique that employs stones and crystals as healing tools. Crystal Healing is a healing method that uses the subtle vibrations of gemstones and crystals to affect the subtle energetic misalignment and blocks causing illness, conditions and other problem a person may have

Does it work? I don't claim to know. But stones and gems are beautiful and it is interesting to know the properties associated with them.

Tourmalines generates its own electrical charges and negative ions which might help steady nerves, improve concentration and boost circulation. Clinical trials have shown Olympic atheletes feel the stone helped increase strength and endurance and speed and self confidence.

Carmelian helps you to feel more energetic. Color studies show that bright colors help us feel more alive, confident and happy.

Aquamarine is a calming stone. Just look at the image and notice a peace. Mediterranean sailors carried this on long sea voyages because they thought it would calm the waters. Feeling stressed? Gaze upon this gem.

Amber isn't actually a stone, it's formed from the sap of a tree. This gem is supposed to help you be happier. Yellow is known to have a warming effect that promotes a happy disposition. The gem because it is adaptable, once being fluid and now a stone, is supposed to help you go with the flow. Who knows? It's worth a try.

Want to know more? Pair a color with a chakra.

Chakra is a concept in traditional Indian medicine which points to the "force centers" or whorls of energy permeating from a point on the physical body

Technology Fun

I know that most of you who read this blog aren't into shopping and the internet, but just thought I would pop out a few sites where if you want to splurge, you can find some bargains. I have to admit, being frugal, I don't yet have a do it all phone, but you can access many of these sites online. Enjoy!!

Rent the Runway (renttherunway.com) offers designer rentals (shipped in two sizes to accomodate you) as low as $50. They also give you ideas for accessories. The downside is return time is tight.

The Find (thefind.com) This combines products, coupons, reviews and local shops into one site. Get it from your computer or mobile device.

Foursquare (foursquare.com) Download to your phone and get discounts at 250,000 stores. Worth the investment, specials have included a 24% off coupon for H&M and $20 gift card at Sports Authority.

Shopsavvy (ShopSavvy scanning app) Snap a photo of a upc and compare prices at local stores or websites.

What Vintage Are You?

Would you pay $130,000 for this hat?

LONDON — Auction site eBay says a bidder has paid 81,100 pounds ($131,648) for the silk bow hat worn by Princess Beatrice to last month's royal wedding.

The 22-year-old granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II put the Philip Treacy creation on sale to raise money for UNICEF and Children in Crisis.

The silk hat caused a stir at the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton on April 29.

Since then, it has been compared to antlers and a pretzel, and has been photoshopped into scores of unlikely scenarios on the Internet. Forty bidders vied for the prize, but eBay did not reveal the identity of the winner.

The auction ended Sunday.

What's Your favorite summer color--I always lean toward Clean and Crisp White. This year it’s has made a grand entrance as head to toe. It can look bland or totally chic. Pair with lots of colorful accessories for a fun look.

Here are a few Do’s and Don’ts to keep in mind.

Make sure it is crisp and clean--yellowed white holds no charm

Mix and match white tones and don't be timid about wearing it head to toe.
How about Rihanna's outfit at the Music Awards Sunday night.

Get some contrast with accessories, wood or the season's favorite metallics are perfect. Check out Nordstrom's sale.

Don't be afraid to choose accessories that shock color.
Don’t wear white pants that you can see through or that reveal pocket lining etc.
Don’t wear white pants that are too tight because they will show every lump and bump.
Do wear white with the right undergarments. Wear skin tone underwear and a skin tone bra, not white, which will show through.
Don’t ever wear white stockings with a white dress

Fun Friday--Coffee Grounds anyone?

Disguise scratches on wood
Dip qtip in damp coffee grounds and cover scratched area. Tannin dye will conceal the mark. Let dry and wipe off, reapply if needed

Cellulite anyone?
Combine l cup coffee grounds with q/2 cup olive or baby oil and rub cellulite for 2 minutes. Shower and rinse. Evidentally, the caffeine will dehydrate the fat cells, reducing the bubbly look for up to 12 hours. Repeat once a week.

Blooming grounds anyone?

Work into dirt around acid loving plants. Repeat once a week. Because of the nitrogen, grounds will lower acidity and deter slugs and snails.

Brighten brunette hair
Steep 1/4 cup grounds in 3 cups hot watter. When cool pour liquid over clean wet hair. The hair will shine and keep its color.

Get rid of musty smells
Fill the foot of old pantyhose with dry grounds. Tie off and leave in cup holder (protected by paper towel) overnight. Moisture, and bacteria will be banished.

Draw Yourself Perfect

As we age, our hair may thin, but so do your eyebrows. Or, they may lighten in color until they appear non-existent. They are one of the most important but neglected facial features. When groomed well, an eyebrow gives you an instant and free eye lift.

Here a few cool tips.

Find your best shape.
Use a mirror a pencil and eyeliner and then, connect the dots.

Pinpoint the start
Hold the pencil against the side of your nose, vertically. Mark with eyeliner where the end of the pencil meets the brow. Hairs between the brows will be taken care of later.

Locate your arch
Slant the pencil from your mouth center, past the edge of your nose to the outside of your iris. Mark a dot at the arch with eyeliner.

Determine the length

Your brows should stop where the pencil reaches 45 degrees from the tip of you
of your nose to the outer corner of your eye. Mark where the pencil touches the brow.

Trim and Pluck
Comb brows upward
and then trim anything that stick up above the arch

Pluck strays

Don't overtweeze

Finishing touches
Color in brows

Medium to light hair--go one hue deeper; darker brows use pencil a shade lighter

Fill in sparse areas with pencil

Tiny short strokes will give a natural look

Unruly hairs

Use gel to keep them neat

Mistakes--EEK
Don't use a magnifying mirror
Don't force symmetry, "they're sisters, not twins"
Don't trim too much
Better to tint hairs then pull until bald
Make shapes natural not odd

Do You Dare to Wiggle?

What is a Wiggle Dress? Well, Robin Roberts wears them on Good Morning America, Kelly wears them on Regis and Kelly. A wiggle dress is a dress that's narrow through the hips and that keeps your legs squeezed together. They made you waddle or, in this case, wiggle. If you haven't already guessed, you usually have to "wiggle" into them, too!

Love the look, but not sure they are all that comfortable. And of course, it depends on your shape as well. They definitely are retro--popular in the 1950's. Here are some updated versions just in case you are game. The advantage of the new wiggle dresses are that they are often designed with a stretchy fabric that moves with you compared to the stiff fabrics of the 50's.

Polished Fold-Waist Dress from Chadwicks

$79.99

Here is a favorite of mine that I snatched off the clearance rack at TJ Maxx for $15

An Adrianna Papell, one of my favorite designers:

A fun print from Macys-- Lauren by Ralph Lauren Dress, Adara Cap Sleeve Batik Leaves
$134.00

All prices, sizes and fabrics. Have fun with them--dare to wiggle!!

Easy Pedicure under $5

Haven't had a spare minute to get a pedicure or just plain too cheap. Try this.
Smooth out cracked heels, and reptile skin with this home-grown foot mask: Blend 2 cucumbers, 2tbs. of lemon juice and 2 tbs of olive oil. Divide the pureed blend between two large plastic bags. Put each foot in one, and fasten around the ankle with a string or elastic. Massage over the entire foot. Leave the plastic bag on for five minutes. The lemon juice which is acidic will slough off dead skin, the oleic acid in olive oil will moisturize your feet and the cucumbers loaded with water will help the olive oil to make your feet soft and babylike.

Add your favorite polish and you're off and running or swimming. (First)

Who's That Behind Those Foster Grants?

I love to be outside now that the weather is nice. Whether it is warm or cold, however, it is unbelievably important to make sure you protect your eyes as much as you protect your skin!

Most of my sunglasses have come from The Dollar Tree. They have a great selection of glasses and they seem to protect my eyes as much as more expensive glasses. I've also splurged on designer glasses at TJ Maxx. The importance is not how much you pay, but just be consistent in their use. Not only do glasses protect your eyes, but also the delicate skin around your eyes.

Here's some fast facts about sunglasses (wikipedia)

Sunglasses offer protection against excessive exposure to light, including its visible and invisible components. The most widespread protection is against ultraviolet radiation, which can cause short-term and long-term ocular problems such as photokeratitis, snow blindness, cataracts, pterygium, and various forms of eye cancer. Medical experts advise the public on the importance of wearing sunglasses to protect the eyes from UV; for adequate protection, experts recommend sunglasses that reflect or filter out 99-100 % of UVA and UVB light, with wavelengths up to 400 nm. Sunglasses which meet this requirement are often labeled as "UV400." More recently, high-energy visible light (HEV) has been implicated as a cause of age-related macular degeneration

The only "visible" quality test for sunglasses is their fit. The lenses should fit close enough to the face that only very little "stray light" can reach the eye from their sides, or from above or below, but not so close that the eyelashes smear the lenses. To protect against "stray light" from the sides, the lenses should fit close enough to the temples and/or merge into broad temple arms or leather blinders.
Dark lenses do not automatically filter out more harmful UV radiation and blue light as compared to light lenses. Blue blocking lenses are commonly yellow or brown whereas blue or gray lenses cannot offer the necessary blue light protection. However, not every yellow or brown lens blocks sufficient blue light. In rare cases, lenses can filter out too much blue light (i.e., 100 %), which affects color vision and can be dangerous in traffic when colored signals are not properly recognized.

High prices cannot guarantee sufficient protection as no correlation between high prices and increased UV protection has been demonstrated. A 1995 study reported that "Expensive brands and polarizing sunglasses do not guarantee optimal UVA protection." One survey even found that a $6.95 pair of generic glasses offered slightly better protection than did expensive Salvatore Ferragamo shades.

You need to check the labels of the glasses you buy to determine the protection they are giving. Here are some stylish suggestions.

Sun kissed, not crisped

The days are longer and more enticing. I love to be outside as much as possible--but the sun and wind can certainly take it's toll, especially for those of us who baked when we were young.

During and after menopause there are subtle changes to your skin. Skin can become drier. A good moisturizer becomes really important We've discused moisturizers but not your sun protection.

A high SPF formula is very important during these years. Keep a sun protector in the car and by the door so you never leave the house without it.Having several containers in strategic places will help you develop the habit of putting it every time you will be in the sun. According to anitiaging articles.com

1. Use a good sunscreen on your face and neck every day. There is no question that ultraviolet radiation from the sun damages our collagen and elastic tissue and leads to pigmentation (brown spots), broken capillaries, dullness, and wrinkles. Use an SPF of at least 15 for everyday; higher if you’re going to be out all day. Look for a sunscreen that contains one or more of the following ingredients: avobenzone, Mexoryl, Tinosorb, zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. These compounds filter Ultraviolet A, which contributes to skin aging and pigmentation. Choose a sunscreen that has a vehicle your skin likes (light lotions for oilier skin types, creamier versions for dry skin types.)

2. Use an antioxidant serum under your sunscreen. Antioxidants give our skin an extra layer of protection from sun-induced free radicals, which damage our skin. There are many antioxidants out there, but the one with the most science behind it is Vitamin C. Some examples of good products are Cellex C, Philosophy Save Me, and DDF C3 Plus Serum.

Here are some good starters

The Best Sunscreen in the World -- La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL

This is arguable, of course. Dermatologists tout La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Lait SPF is the best sunscreen in the world.Claims are that it works because of the chemical "Mexoryl," well-known all over the world to protect skin from wrinkle-causing UVA rays. (Most sunscreens only protect against UVB rays). How good is Mexoryl? "It produces a product which gives us almost perfect protection against sunshine," said Dr. Vincent DeLeo, chairman of dermatology at Columbia University to ABC News.

Best Body Sunscreen -- Bull Frog Superblock
What about the body? Experts swear by Bull Frog Superblock Sun Block. Its long-lasting lotion protects even the fairest of skin types.
Extra tip: Sunscreen isn't only for the face so don't forget to protect your hands, necks and chests as well.

Best Facial Moisturizer with SPF for Dry Skin -- Eucerin

Eucerin Extra Protective moisture lotion SPF 30 Eucerin combines sunscreen with moisturizer. If you have dry skin, it's a solid bet. It contains the "gold standards" of skin protection -- microfine zinc and titanium oxides. This will guard skin again aging UVA rays and skin-cancer causing UVB rays. My father (he's 65-plus) uses it and raves to his peers that it smoothes his wrinkles.

Best Facial Moisturizer with SPF for Oily Skin -- Aveda

Best Facial Moisturizer with SPF for All Skin Types -- L'Occitane

Moisturizers with SPF protection are great time savers. A great bet is L'Occitane Shea Butter Ultra Moisturizing Day Care SPF 20.
But be careful, it's very thick. Another great bet is Clarins Hydration-Plus Moisture Lotion SPF 15, which combines sunscreen with Clarins' all-time bestselling moisturizers. A top favorite of dermatologists is Olay Total Effects UV Protection .

Best Tinted Moisturizers With SPF -- Laura Mercier

Tinted moisturizer is lighter than your average foundation but provides a soft coverage. It's great for women with almost flawless skin because it evens out skin tone without "cake face," otherwise known as "pancake makeup."
Foundations ohttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifr tinted moisturizers with SPF ensures you are getting not only great coverage, but SPF as well. Hands down the best tinted moisturizer with SPF on the market is Laura Mercier.

Best Organic Sunscreen: Dr. Hauschka Skincare Sunscreen

. This sunscreen is a favorite of Jade Jagger's and comes in a variety of SPFs.

Best Drugstore Sunscreen: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock

The reviewers over at Makeupalley.com rave about Neutrogena's Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock. It goes on lightly, doesn't turn an oily face into a greasepit and best yet, it won't cast "ghost glow," the annoying white cast that some sunblocks give.
Neutrogena products are now made with Helioplex, which, like Mexoryl, offers ultra protection from the sun's UVA rays. Most sunscreens on the market only offer protection from UVB rays, but it's the UVA rays that can wreak havoc deep within the epidermis and causing some bad skin cancers.

Check what you buy!!

Did you see that Diane Sawyer has a special report. They removed ALL items from a typical, middle class family's home that were not made in the USA .
There was hardly anything left besides the kitchen sink. Literally. During the special they are going to show truckloads of items - USA made - being brought in to replace everything and will be talking about how to find these items and the difference in price etc..
It was interesting that Diane said that if every American spent just $64 more than normal on USA made items this year, it would create something like 200,000 new jobs!
WAS BUYING FOOD THE OTHER DAY AT WALMART and ON THE LABEL OF SOME PRODUCTS IT SAID 'FROM CHINA’

FOR EXAMPLE THE "OUR FAMILY" BRAND OF THE MANDARIN ORANGES SAYS RIGHT ON THE CAN 'FROM CHINA '

I WAS SHOCKED SO FOR A FEW MORE CENTS I BOUGHT THE LIBERTY GOLD BRAND OR THE DOLE SINCE IT'S FROM CALIF.

Are we Americans as dumb as we appear --- or --- is it that we just do not think while the Chinese, knowingly and intentionally, export inferior and even toxic products and dangerous toys and goods to be sold in American markets?

70% of Americans believe that the trading privileges afforded to the Chinese should be suspended.

Why do you need the government to suspend trading privileges? DO IT YOURSELF, AMERICA!!

Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and if it says 'Made in China ' or 'PRC' (and that now includes Hong Kong ), simply choose another product, or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are on Chinese products, and you will be equally amazed at what you can do without.

Who needs plastic eggs to celebrate Easter? If you must have eggs, use real ones and benefit some American farmer. Easter is just an example. The point is do not wait for the government to act. Just go ahead and assume control on your own.

THINK ABOUT THIS: If 200 million Americans refuse to buy just $20 each of Chinese goods, that's a billion dollar trade imbalance resolved in our favor...fast!!

Most of the people who have been reading about this matter are planning on implementing this on May 1st and continue it until June 1st. That is only one month of trading losses, but it will hit the Chinese for 1/12th of the total, or 8%, of their American exports. Then they might have to ask themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and
lawlessness were worth it.

Remember, MAY 1 TO JUNE 1st !!!!!!
START NOW.

Send this to everybody you know. Let's show them that we are Americans and NOBODY can take us for granted.

If we can't live without cheap Chinese goods for one month out of our lives, WE DESERVE WHAT WE GET!

Pass it on, America...... BUY AMERICAN !!!!!

Comfort with an Attitude

Several years ago, I bought a pair of sandals similar to the above. They were black fabric straps with similar soles and insides. I fell in love. They were so comfortable they became my summer staple. I can wear them for running, hiking, walking or just hanging out. Unfortunately, they take such a beating, that I am always wearing them out and searching for new ones the following year. They are about as comfortable as they get, but for some reason they are always scarce. One year Dr. Scholls made them with fabric straps and they appeared in Walmart. Unfortunately, they only had a few pairs and quickly sold out. One year I found them at TJ Maxx and I think they were Liz Clairborne's and this year I happened upon them again at Walmart, under the Earth Spirit brand. They have leather straps and suede insides and are designed with Gelron cushion which reduces impact while walking or running. This is why you wouldn't feel uncomfortable standing for long periods of time. They run about $25.

Whatever brand you choose, make sure that they have suede inner soles, as the rubber inner sole makes your feet hot and sweaty. The inner sole should be cushioned for summer activities and the straps should be either fabric, or leather to let your feet breathe and flexible enough to accomodate hot weather woes.

Enjoy and stay active!!
